Book of Dead GO Collect from Play'n GO sticks with the classic 5x3 layout and 10 paylines, but there’s far more happening behind the reels this time around. Between expanding symbols during free spins, collectible Gold Staters, and the Treasure Vault feature, this version takes the old formula up a notch. 

This is definitely the most polished release in the Rich Wilde online slots series. The game opens with an animated sequence leading into an ancient Egyptian tomb, where the famous Book lies.  

When the gaming screen pops up, it’s obvious that Rich has gone up in the world, as behind the 5x3 grid we can see the paraphernalia of a full blown archeological expedition scattered around the entrance to the tomb.  

The jackpot values are lined up on the left of the grid, and beneath them is a fancy gold and purple bowl, where Gold Stater symbols are collected. The soundtrack is vaguely Eastern music, more mysterious than dramatic in the base game. 

Special symbols: 

• The Tomb Scatter is both a Wild and a Scatter, substituting for regular paying symbols while also triggering the free spins feature when at least three land on the reels. 
• Gold Stater symbols are tied to the collection mechanics and jackpots in the Treasure Vault feature.  

GO Collect Feature 

Throughout normal gameplay, symbols can randomly gain Gold Stater coins attached to them. These coins are collected into a running total that slowly builds progress toward the Treasure Vault bonus feature.  

Treasure Vault Bonus 

Once enough Gold Staters have been collected, the Treasure Vault feature can trigger. This plays out as a respin round starting with three respins. Every time a new coin lands, the counter resets. Some coins carry multiplier values between x1 and x5, while others award jackpot prizes.  

There are two ways the feature can end;  the player fills the entire screen with coins or runs out of respins before doing so, either way, all values on the grid are awarded. 

Treasure Gamble 

After the Treasure Vault feature finishes, players can gamble their prize using scarab coins. If more Brilliant Staters than Broken Staters appear, the winnings double. Otherwise, the entire prize is lost. The gamble option can be used up to four times in a row.  

Free Spins 

The free spins round begins with 10 spins after landing at least three Tomb Scatters and, as always, before the feature starts, one regular paying symbol is randomly selected to become an expanding symbol. 

Whenever this symbol lands, it expands to cover the full reel and pays regardless of gaps between matching symbols. Extra Tomb Scatters can award additional free spins, with the feature capped at 80 spins total. 

Book of Dead GO Collect uses a classic 5-reel, 3-row layout with 10 fixed paylines. Wins are formed from left to right, beginning on the first reel. Only the highest-paying combination per payline is awarded.

We actually liked the fact that Book of Dead GO Collect didn’t completely abandon the original setup. The core gameplay still feels familiar, but the added collection systems give the reels more going on between free spin triggers. The Treasure Vault feature probably steals the spotlight thanks to the respin mechanic and jackpot coins constantly dropping onto the screen. 

Some players might prefer the cleaner structure of the original Book of Dead, but, for players who enjoy this style of gameplay but want more mechanics, this version will be a very welcome addition to the series.
